On 16 October 2024, Kim Leadbeater (Labour) presented the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill 2024-25 to Parliament.
MPs will get a free vote on the bill, which would allow people to choose to take their own lives, if they are terminally ill with only 12 months to live.
Doctors would be in a position to offer such patients doses of lethal medication upon request.
The Bill has sparked substantial debate on both sides of the argument, which continues.
