A mother who kept her infant in a drawer beneath her bed for over three years was sentenced to prison for "extreme neglect."   Prior to her discovery weeks before her third birthday, the child had never seen daylight. She was discovered at the family's Cheshire house with matted hair, abnormalities, and rashes. Aswell as, being significantly malnourished and dehydrated. The mom did not seek medical treatment for the baby's cleft palate.   She did not provide the toddler with adequate food and drink, instead giving her watery Weetabix with a syringe.

Social services hurried to the residence after her boyfriend found the baby crying, left the house and informed family members.

The mother showed no emotion.
