On Monday 25th November 2024, John Tinniswood died in Southport. Months after setting the Guinness World record and posing next to it, the oldest man in the world passed away at the age of 112 "surrounded by music and love." He was born in Liverpool on August 26, 1912.

The World War II veteran, who was born the year the Titanic went down, had previously said that he felt very lucky. He said he didn’t even feel his age when he was 112.

His one bit of advice for maintaining good health, though, was to do everything in moderation.
