Anti-theft warning signs and announcements are a familiar part of London’s public transport, reminding passengers to protect their belongings, especially during busy journeys. Pickpocketing and phone theft remain common concerns on crowded trains and platforms. But beyond these warnings, how safe do people feel when they travel? Are commuters worried about theft, and have they or someone they know experienced it? With millions of journeys made every day, safety continues to matter. This report explores passengers’ views on security, their experiences of theft, and whether a stronger police presence could help people feel more reassured while using London’s transport network.
